Our story

From a women’s college to a college for everyone.

For more than sixty years, families across Bengaluru have trusted BMS PU College, formerly BMS PU College for Women, with their children’s most important academic years. That trust is not changing. It is being extended to more students than ever before.

BMS Pre-University College was established by the great visionaries Late Sri B. M. Sreenivasaiah and his son Late Sri B. S. Narayan, under the patronage of the BMS Educational Trust. It is one of the progressive institutions in the state, and has firmly established its reputation under the guidance of Dr. B. S. Ragini Narayan, Chairperson, BMSET.

The college is located amidst the lush green environs of Basavanagudi, and its infrastructure is designed to encourage students to pursue all-round excellence. One of our students has secured the 4th rank in the PU Board examination, and more than a hundred students have scored distinctions.

BMS PU College is one of the progressive educational institutions in Karnataka, giving young people a platform to pursue their dreams. Deeply inspired by the vision of our most revered founders, Late Sri B M Sreenivasaiah and Late Sri B S Narayan, the college offers a wide spectrum of innovative courses on its salubrious campus.

Campus & activities

Facilities and student life

Our campus is being upgraded for the way students learn today, with tech-enabled classrooms and facilities ready for a co-ed college.

The college has three faculty departments: Science, Arts and Commerce. Admissions are open to students of all nationalities. Qualified and experienced faculty members strive to impart the best coaching. The college has an excellent library and information centre, well-equipped modern laboratories, spacious classrooms with good ventilation, and a museum. Sports has been a major high point of the college: it has been a springboard for students to reach great heights, and many have represented the state and the nation.

To impart self-reliance and creative thinking, the Koushala Club was established, where students are trained in skills such as self-defence, jewellery designing and fashion designing. The student welfare association helps students identify their talents and enhance them through academic and cultural activities. NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, Red Cross, a cultural forum, and a mentoring and counselling cell are some of the schemes students can avail. Faculty and students are encouraged to organise and take part in seminars, workshops and conferences, and departmental clubs and cultural events give students an enriching campus experience.
