About the subject: "History then, is a continuing and unending dialogue between the present and the past with the historian serving as guide and interpreter"- E H Carr. By learning history we can appreciate the efforts of the people who lived before us who made the humanity more humane. We can learn from the mistakes of the past and avoid them. It broadens one's outlook towards diverse cultures, traditions, religions and heritage which ultimately promotes peaceful co-existence, harmony among the people.
About the Department: Department of History has the distinction of teaching the subject for Students of Arts and Commerce streams. Over the years the department has been imparting the basics of history to the students of Pre-University level preparing them to the deep understanding of the subject in higher education. Our students have achieved Centum in recent years showing the determination to carry the legacy of the subject in various avenues. The department conducts periodic quiz competition, line-sketch drawing of historical monuments competition and also organizes study trips to historical places for the students.
